The two of them have been friends for so long, that the progression into something more should have been a little more natural than it was.
Natural it wasn’t though, or it was too natural.
Chris rubbed his hand together and tried to calm himself down as he stood outside Mickie’s hotel room and tried to not lose his mind. He didn’t know why he was so nervous, why she made him so nervous but it was an exhilarating feeling.
He raised his hand to knock on the door, smiling brightly when it opened and she was standing there in front of him like she’d just been waiting for this moment for a while.
“You’re a little late,” Mickie told him, her voice filled with amusement.
Chris checked his watch, then looked up at her with a playful glare shaking his head.
“By two minutes,” he responded to her, smiling somewhat.
Mickie opened the door further, allowing him to step in as she went to grab her coat, leaning down to pick it up off the bed Chris couldn’t help the fact that his eyes were drawn to the small sliver of skin which revealed itself when she did so.
Chris held out a small daisy when she turned to him, and he couldn’t help but smile back at her as she looked thrilled by the small gesture.
“Is this more awkward than it should be?” she asked after taking it from him and kissing his cheek gently.
Laughing Chris nodded his head, “I don’t know why either, we’ve known each other for so long, and it’s not like we didn’t know about each other’s feelings but for some strange reason...” his next words were muffled as her lips met his.`
Mickie made a surprised noise at how good it felt to kiss him, her hand straying up his back to grip his neck lightly holding him in place.
Chris’ fingers found their home in her hair, tangling it around them as he explored her mouth and then stepped back, licking his lips and smiling.
“You look good in lip gloss,” Mickie told him impishly, swiping her thumb along his bottom lip and then kissing his cheek.
Laughing softly Chris shrugged his shoulders and looked down at her, nudging her lightly with his hip then wrapping one arm around her waist to pull her closer.
“Mickie,” he murmured, looking into her eyes.
“Yeah?” Mickie hated the breathlessness of her voice.
“You crushed my daisy,” he smiled before kissing her softly again on the lips.
Minutes passed, and the longer the kissed the longer it took for them to even want to stop.
“Take me to dinner Canada,” Mickie murmured when they parted, squeezing his hand and leading him toward the door.
“If I have to,” Chris relented with a soft sigh.
