Title: Bring Them Together
Fandom: X-Men
Characters/Pairings: Gambit/Wolverine (unrequited)
Rating: PG
Complete: Yes
Prompt: 1/1. life
Summary: Remy can't get those eyes out of his head, the image of pain and confusion.
Warnings: Spoilers for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Contains mentions of slash m/m pairings, but only briefly.
Notes: This took me a long time to write, so I hope it's enjoyed by someone other than myself.
Life has not been good to either of them.
It has not been kind, and at times Gambit finds himself breathless with how horrible he feels, how much his muscles ache after running from another hunter, a fellow mutant who has come to collect the bounty on his head.
Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be so talented.
Logan is stuck in his head, and won’t go away.
He doesn’t know when it happened, but he can’t get the older mutant out of his head, the devil may care attitude which hid pain Remy couldn’t even begin to understand or try to comprehend.
He had been so full of life though, vitality and revenge boiling in his veins, Remy had seen it.
Remy had been aroused by it, attracted before he could even begin to stop himself from feeling it.
Remembering the look of confusion in Logan’s eyes before he’d left that hellish island gave him moment for pause.
The older mutant didn’t seem to have any clue as to who he was, something which worried Remy more than he could admit.
Pausing in his run Remy ducked around a corner, panting softly he closed his eyes, listening to the sounds around him and trying to figure out if approaching footsteps were meant for him or not .
They weren’t and Remy smiled to himself as he turned to head down the nearest alley, his gait and strides displaying a lazy confidence he’d managed to cultivate over the years.
His steps faltered when Logan’s eyes, so filled with confusion filled his vision momentarily and he sighed.
Life could eat that man alive, if he didn’t figure out who he was, but Remy didn’t doubt that Logan would get a good grasp on himself, as best he could.
He just hoped he’d get to see him again.
Remy hoped that the reception he got would be a friendly one.
It was doubtful, but even that thought made him smile.
They would meet again.
