WWE Fic: Eccentricities 1/?

Title: Eccentricities

Fandom: WWE

Pairing: None yet, pre-slash.

Rating: R in later chapters. PG now.

Warning: Weird ass shit below. Pre-Slash. Also there is het involved.

Summary: Inspired by the June 23rd edition of Raw aka the Doomed Draft as some are calling it. I am remaining optimistic.

Author's Note: I originally intended for this to be a one shot but it really isn't going to be because my muses wouldn't tell me how to get to the ending I wanted in a short way.

Dedicated to Shakito who was very encouraging about this.

"Are you okay?" Mickie asked as she shifted from foot to foot worrying her bottom lip between her teeth. She paced back and forth after a little while, her golden brown eyes fixated on Melina's face as it twisted in pain almost violently. "I'm so sorry, I should've been there," She apologized for what felt like the millionth time. It wasn't though, and it would never be enough. It was wrestling 101; she hadn't been watching her partners back like she was supposed to. She'd never felt so stupid in her entire life.

"Would you please stop apologizing?" Melina requested but smiled nonetheless. Mickie had always grated on her nerves in an unbelievable way but she was beginning to see that her eccentricities were just that, eccentricities. They wouldn't hurt anyone, or they weren't meant to. "It wasn't your fault, it was my own fault for not paying attention well enough now sit down before you fall down," She wish she'd noticed before how drawn and tired Mickie look. For some reason the thought of the other woman being so upset over this twisted something deep inside of her and she suddenly felt short of breath.

Melina barely had time to process her thoughts when the door burst open and two referees stumbled in with none other than David Batista propped up between them with blood running quickly down his face, "Oh my god, Dave are you okay? What happened?" She tried to get up and was pushed back down by the trainer. "He needs this more than I do," She glared at him and accepted Mickie's help onto the stool. "Put him here, I want to look at him." She ordered, lifting her chin and looking down her nose at him.

"I'm okay Lina, I promise," Dave mustered a smile for her as the trainer began wiping the blood off his face. "It was just an incident in the rumble." He explained, allowing her to study his face for wounds easily. He was used to this treatment from her, anyone else would be shocked to, but he knew a side of her that no one else did, a tenderness and loving nature.

Melina studied his face gently, stroking it and helping wipe away the blood. "It's not a facial wound," She murmured frowning as her eyes strayed to the crown of his head. "How did you manage that? Who did that to you?" She sounded almost fierce now, resembling the fierceness of a bear wanting to protect her baby cubs.

Dave leaned forward and kissed her softly on the lips, stroking her cheek with his thumb carefully. "It was Adam; he's got a harder head than everyone thought. It must be the ego," He murmured, leaning in for another kiss only to be pushed away. "What?"

"There are people around," Melina laughed softly, "And you need to be bandaged up and the trainer needs to look at my ankle," She explained. "Are you lucid enough to understand that Tista?" She purred leaning almost close enough for a kiss then pulled away startled when the door slammed. She looked around and noticed that Mickie was no longer there, a frown growing on her face.

"What's her problem?" Dave asked, wincing slightly when they began to stitch his head closed.

Melina shrugged her shoulders, looking down at her hands. "I don't know," She murmured softly letting out a sigh. "I really don't know."

"What's wrong? Is your ankle bothering you?" Dave stayed absolutely still despite his quick gesture to her. "I think you should look at her ankle first, I think it might be torn ligaments or a really bad sprain but I'd really like to get that first thought out of both our heads." He took Melina's hand in his and squeezed lightly.

Melina's eyes strayed to the door and she wished Mickie would come back in, something that surprised her quite a bit. Why was she thinking this way? She wasn't like that. "My ankle is fine, it's just a sprain," She turned back to him and forced a smile onto her face. "You just get your head checked out and then we can get back to the hotel."

Dave nodded as he studied her once she'd looked away, recognizing the longing in her eyes. It matched the same longing he had in his heart but was too cowardly to admit to. It looked like they were both using each other. Hopefully that would change, Melina deserved better than what he could give her which was just short of nothing.

Mickie walked down the hall quickly heading back to the women's locker room, almost stumbling as tears blurred her vision and kept her from being able to see properly. She kept her head down, hoping when she reached the locker room it would be empty not even fully realizing where she was going until she ran directly into someone.

"God I'm sorry," She pulled back glancing up when a hand grasped her arm. "Oh John, it's you…" She wiped her eyes quickly.

John Cena looked concerned, tilting her chin up with his fingers. "Are you okay? Did someone hurt you?" He asked, his voice soft. Although rumours were floating around backstage about the two of them being together John's seesaw didn't exactly rock to that rhythm but that didn't mean he didn't care about her genuinely as a friend.

"Not in the way you're thinking and it's just stupid," Mickie stepped back slowly and wiped her cheeks carefully. "I'll be fine in a little while." She moved to walk around him, sighing when he grabbed her arm gently just above the elbow once again.

"But I want you to be okay right now," John pretended to whine at her, walking alongside her when she moved away once again. "How about you come back to my hotel room with me and you can tell me what's going on?" He suggested, nudging her lightly. "I'll even see if the room service fairies can find some cookie dough ice cream for you to drown your sorrows in," He wheedled. "It could be a sleep over," He widened his eyes like a puppy dog, a small smile growing on his lips.

"That does sound like fun," Mickie laughed softly and took his arm finally allowing him to escort her to the locker room where she would finally be able to change out of her ring gear and into something much more comfortable. Maybe she would even be able to forget about Melina. She sighed softly when she closed the locker room door, she wouldn't be forgetting about Melina any time soon. Hopefully a night relaxing with John would be just what she needed.
