Edge realizes a little too late he’s made a mistake in getting together with her, just a little too late. He realizes he made an even bigger mistake in cheating on her, because he’s lost her now completely.

He remembers when they first got together, how forbidden it was, how little she wanted to because above all else she hated hurting anyone, and didn’t want to hurt Matt even though he could be an insufferable jackass at times.

She had accused him of ruining her “family”.

He couldn’t help but think it was true, because he had been a member of that family as well.

Matt couldn’t look at him without wanting to spit in his face, or do something even more violent. He could see it boiling behind those dark brown eyes which had once been open with trust toward him.

Jeff just shook his head every time he saw him.

Lita had gained back their friendships, had gained back her family because they were quick to see her as a victim of his, something that made him feel even worse.

She wouldn’t even look at him anymore, her eyes filling up with frost before she would turn her head away and ignore whatever he had to say.

He hated seeing her happy with him. It was sickening.

CM Punk.

He had swept in pretty quickly to save Lita from him, to save Lita from being the object of “humiliation” and abuse.

He had never hurt her.

Had he?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

She hated seeing him.

Lita didn’t like remembering her time with the blond Canadian. It wasn’t something she looked back on fondly at all, because of everything that had been destroyed because of it.

Sometimes she saw regret in his eyes but she knew his pattern, she’d known his pattern when she had gotten involved with him.

He cheated.

He cheated, and cheated and cheated.

One day she had turned around and realized he was cheating on her.

It made her sick.

She had gone from being the other woman, to being the woman in his life before she was cast aside.

She didn’t feel any sympathy for him.

He had hurt her more than anyone else ever had.

“What are you thinking about baby?” Punk murmured into her ear, sliding one arm around her waist and holding her close, dropping a gentle kiss on her upturned lips.

Lita returned the kiss for a few moments, smiling happily against his lips. “I was just thinking about how much things have changed,” she responded.

Punk nodded, “And has it changed for the better or worse?” He asked her.

“Definitely better,” she takes his hand, enjoying the calluses on his fingertips and the warmth of his grip against hers before she leads him out of the building.

Punk grins at her, the expression playfully wicked before he begins walking with her, noticing the sharp light of pain which enters her eyes when they walk past Edge and squeezes her hand.

Lita moved closer to him when he pulls her there, resting her head gently on his shoulder as she walks with him.

He’s the only one she needs to keep the cold away now.
