Title: Faith and False Hope for Better Days
Fandom: Original
Rating: Strong PG-13
Summary: All Ajani Sullivan is trying to do is survive. Yet when his angel can't manage to he is left with nothing but his faith and false hopes. He finds himself immersed in a home with an eclectic bunch of characters who all want him to be happy or do they?

Author’s Note: Oh my god, I managed to almost update twice in one month, that’s never happened before. And also, chapter four or five depending on how you look at it…the first chapter IS a prologue. Thank you Error-Author my lovely muse. And Liviania sorry for not really answering your question about who Justus is, but you get a little bit of an impression.

Domani and Ajani ate dinner in almost complete silence; the only noise was the scraping of their cutlery against dishes. Finally Ajani was sick of the silence and glanced up at Domani, swallowing. “Do you and Boyd always get into arguments?” He asked, leaning back in his chair he studied Domani finding that the edge of fear he felt from  being near the other boy made him feel more alive than he had in weeks.

Smirking Domani nodded his head, “Both of us have been here for awhile, of course we get into arguments. We don’t hate each other if that’s what you’re asking, neither of us has learned when is a good time to step down though, which is why he ended up storming out of the kitchen.” He responded, seeming more at ease with a hot meal in front of him, even though there was still a glint to his eyes that shouldn’t be in anyone’s eyes that hadn’t experienced the worse that life had to offer.

“Was what you said about him true?” Ajani asked, cocking his head to the side he twisted the fork in between his fingers, glancing back down at his plate he found himself unable to meet Domani’s eyes. He couldn’t help but be curious as their argument had seemingly sprung from nowhere, unless it was some deep-seated issue that had always existed between the two of them and this was a normal occurrence.

Domani smirked slightly, “No it’s not. As far as I know he’s only ever slept with three people, not many people are willing to have a relationship with someone who’s in a wheelchair, much less have sex with them.” He replied, “I just don’t have the same ideals he does as far as sex is concern. My mum was a bit too free with how she gave away her many “gifts” so I’m slightly more uptight in the sex department.”

Ajani nodded, stunned at what information however small Domani had given him about his mother, had she been a prostitute or something? He couldn’t bring himself to ask. “That makes sense, I mean I’ve never…” He flushed; looking back down at his plate he took another bite of the food, not finishing the sentence.

“You’re a virgin, no big surprise there,” Domani snorted, finishing his food he stood up and put his plate in the dish washer after rinsing it off. “No offense mate but you can barely strike up a conversation with the people you’re supposed to be living with for however long you decide to stay, I can’t imagine you trying to talk some chit into bed.”

Glancing over at Domani Ajani wasn’t sure whether he should be offended or not, “I don’t think I’m offended, it’s true that I have problems talking to people. But I’m also not into girls,” He blushed, hating himself for it but couldn’t stop himself from doing it, this was one of the most in depth personal conversations he’d ever had with anyone, much less someone he found to be good looking. It was definitely an eye opening experience for him, and it felt kind of good.

Domani sat back down in his seat, surprised he arched an eyebrow then smiled brightly. “I love it, you’re so…refreshing. I enjoy it, I think you’ll do very well in this house and you have nothing to worry about. Am I the first one you’ve told about liking men?” He asked.

“Yeah, in my old house I couldn’t…it was too…” Ajani broke off, looking away from Domani he sighed softly. “I should probably go finish getting settled in. I’ll talk to you later okay?” He rose from his chair, turning back to Domani before he hit the staircase, not wanting to seem too rude but he was feeling awkward in this situation.

Understanding Domani just nodded in response, getting up he went about cleaning the kitchen, not really paying attention to anything around after Ajani’s footprints faded up the stairs and most likely into his room or Boyd’s. When the back door opened he glanced through the window into the mud room and grinned, happy to see one of his favourite people.

Justus Irvine walked into the kitchen and smiled upon seeing Domani, making his way quickly across the kitchen he made his way to Domani and slid his arms around the taller mans waist tilting his head back he looked into his eyes, “Hello,” He murmured hoarsely then kissed him on the lips softly.

Domani returned the kiss, tangling his fingers in silky blond hair he pulled Justus in close; he’d known him for awhile, since before Justus had been brought to their house, when he’d still be in the system. The smaller man was beautiful, all sleek curves and sweet kissable skin. He let out a soft purring noise before pulling away, stroking one long finger down Justus’ cheekbone. “Good evening gorgeous,” He greeted.

Flushing Justus ducked his head, burying his face in Domani’s neck he effectively cut himself off from being complimented any longer, his hearing aids turned off after a long night of working in retail where the music and people were much too loud for him to handle at times. “Not so,” He muttered, even though he wouldn’t hear Domani’s reply. It had always been his way to avoid having to hear things he didn’t want to think about.

Forcing Justus to look up at him Domani shook his head, “Don’t.” His voice was almost tender, a complete turnaround from how he’d acted around Ajani and Boyd. “You know I think you’re gorgeous, and you know I miss you when you’re not around, so stop trying to think less of yourself, I don’t think it’s very becoming.”

The corners of Justus’ mouth twitched up in a smile, and he nodded. “You don’t think a lot is becoming.” Reaching up he adjusted the volume on his hearing aids slightly, if only so he could hear Domani’s voice the littlest bit, loving the dulcet tones, even when they became sharper edged with anger. It was like someone was massaging his skin with silk every time his boyfriend spoke, and yet no one realized why Justus was with him. It was a source of amusement for both of them who hid away so well that no one actually knew how much they loved each other, and how good they were for each other. The only person who seemed to realize at all was Chloe but she seemingly had a deeper appreciation for human emotion and spirit than other people.

“And yet you stay with me anyway,” Domani tucked a strand of Justus’ long hair behind his ear quickly, careful not to touch the appendages as they were a sensitive spot on Justus’ body but not in a good way. “I love you okay?” He murmured into the shorter boy’s ear before pulling away just enough to push some buttons on the microwave.

Justus grinned, “You even made me dinner?” He partially cooed then laughed softly, the noise breathless and somewhat rough as though his voice wasn’t used often. “How did you sneak that past Boyd? You know if you do such nice things he might get the misconception that you’re a nice guy, you wouldn’t want that would you?” He slipped away from Domani to get the plate from the microwave.

Domani growled playfully and pulled Justus back into him, despite the hot plate of food. “I’m not a nice guy luv; you of all people should know that. It’s one of the reasons you were so attracted to me. Of course if he were to start thinking such a thing I could just bat you around a little bit.” He smirked, pulling out a chair for Justus as they moved back toward the table.

Instead of giving him a look of fear, or being offended Justus just laughed again, shaking his head he pouted playfully at Domani, flirtatious in the face of even the slightest bit of danger he was made of tougher stuff then he looked, the opposite of Domani who could be tough but most of the time, unless he was in a mood chose not to be. “You wouldn’t dare,” He dug into his food, rather messy he ignored the face his lover made, secretly delighting in getting under the other young man’s skin for once.

“No I wouldn’t,” Domani muttered under his breath, looking down at his hand. If anyone ever found out what a soft spot he held for the angelic looking blond he would never live it down. He’d been protecting, and admiring Justus for years, it was only within the past two years or so their friendship had turned to something more. Something they both protected reverently, as though it would be stolen away from them in a second. Having grown up in foster care the two of them knew, of course that it could be taken away within a moment’s notice.

Suddenly stalling his progress of inhaling every item on the plate Justus looked up, a curious light in his blue eyes as they rested upon Domani’s face. The darker boy was clearly in thought, not something he typically wanted to interrupt but just had to this once. “Is the new boy here yet?” He asked, tilting his head to the side he licked his lips at the thought of having someone new around to bother and annoy, or possibly make his new best friend.

“Yes,” Domani responded levelly, noticing the interest in Justus’ eyes. He wasn’t jealous one bit as his boyfriend had been known to wander from time to time but always returned to his proper place, in Domani’s bed and in his arms.

Justus waited for Domani to say more, eyes patiently resting on his lips although Domani’s were hard to read at times unless he was angry. “And?” He turned up his hearing aid the slightest bit more, so that he would be able to hear even a low spoken voice if he so wished to. Nevertheless he was quite the gossip king and wanted nothing more than the information on the new boy who everyone had been waiting for to turn up for weeks.

“He’s had a hard life,” Domani responded shortly, unsure if he should mention the entire story he’d heard from Boyd to Justus or not. The wheelchair ridden younger man had been worried how Ajani would settle into the house due to his apparent distrust to his old family, as well as the death of a little sister who he called angel, it was basically the same story Domani as the oldest boy had been told by Chloe.

“I don’t care about his life, I’ll hear about that eventually. What is he like? I don’t care about his life story right now,” Justus rolled his eyes, finishing up his plate with the inhalation of someone who hadn’t eaten in days despite the fact that the young fit boy ate about five small meals a day and worked out three hours four days a week to keep in such trim shape.

Domani smiled, chuffing his chin the slightest bit he dropped a soft kiss on his lips then smiled. “He’s nice I guess, dyed hair, a ghastly look about him like he’s lost a lot. I think he’s emotionally broken, and before you ask, yes he is gay. It’s like Chloe collects all the people no one else wants because of their sexuality or other reasons.”

Justus leaned forward, resting his head on his hand he peered up at Domani. “Really? How intriguing, so which is it for him? Is it his sexuality that brought him here or was it other reasons?” He said the last two words in a stage whisper, a glint to his eyes. He couldn’t help but bait his boyfriend from time to time; it was just so easy to do.

“Other reasons, but I can say no more,” Domani winked; taking his hand he pressed a kiss to the back of it. “Now you go take a hot shower, I’ll be up there with you in a little bit okay?” He asked, picking up Justus’ plate.

Rising from his seat Justus wrapped an arm around Domani and kissed him softly on the lips before heading down the hall towards his room and the bathroom where he could get some relaxation after a long day at work. If he was lucky Domani would help him wash his back.

F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F

Will Domani wash Justus’ back?

Will we ever see Chloe again?

Will Boyd continue to be sensitive and sulky?

Will Ajani ever redecorate his room?

Next time on Faith and False Hopes for Better Days: Justus takes a shower and Domani gives him a surprise. Boyd gives Ajani a helping hand as well, and the two of them get to have a little talk. Domani and Boyd have a little talk as well, but will it be as volatile as the last…I have no idea…

And on that note I am hoping to have chapter 5 up sometime next week but I do have an insanely busy schedule with something like a thirty four hour work week, two birthday dinners (both for me one with family and one with friends) and my actual birthday (Dec 9th) to attend to. All I want for my birthday is reviews thank you.
