It was hard to say when things began to fall apart in Camelot precisely.

Perhaps it was Uther’s ailing health, or the fact that Morgana had betrayed them, or that Arthur felt Gwen had betrayed him.

For Merlin it fell apart in minutes as the monster struck out at Arthur and he reached out, forced his magic out of him in order to save Camelot’s favoured son.

Right in front of the King.

Seven steps and he was a damned man, his neck on the chopping block and his eyes sliding shut.

For Arthur Camelot fell when the axe descended.
